It all started with a 'WINK'in 2008, when I fortuitously landed at the bottom of a Native American vision quest site in the Rocky Mountains. Now you can get the untold stories of encounters with wild spirit animals. A journey of hope, healing and guidance that is the foundation of my creativity.
Aug 2021, a tragic event sent me to Sand Wash Basin, CO to seek healing and peace with the wild horses. The experience left me with wonder of their world, the connections and support they give each other. Two weeks after this visit, these horses experienced a traumatizing round up by helicopters. They were torn apart, separated and sent off to pens. This baby became lost from his mom as she was forced into captivity. A stallion found it, protected it and brought it to the site to attempt to reunite it with it's mom. Both were captured but the baby was not reunited with it's mom but instead sent to a rescue. The stallion jumped the fence the next day and is still free. These events were recorded, outrage has started the path to change. I hope these stories will honor these families and create safe places for the wild horses that are a symbol of the free in America.
In July 2021, my Spirit Horse Rocky was attacked by a horse and broke his leg just below the shoulder. Tragically he died. To honor my best friend whom the ancestors sent to me in 2012, I have created the Spirit Horse Collection. I hope to capture the emotions and spirit of this amazing horse. . As I remember the journey we walked together, I will create many pieces of artwork inspired by Rocky. This Study of Eyes in B&W shows the depth of his connection, the beauty & peace he brought into my life. He busted into my life as my Elk Guide was walking out of my life, a gift from my ancestors provided as I was leaving my refuge at the Native American Vision Quest site. Rocky guided me through many difficult challenges in my life. He is missed everyday.
